“Tapas” is the Spanish word for small portions of food as an appetizer or combined with other items to form a light meal. On our first night in Spain we wanted a light supper before bed so we walked a few blocks from our Madrid hotel to the Plaza Santa Ana, a place noted for its excellent choices of tapas. There we enjoyed Gambas al Ajillo [shrimp broiled in garlic] with sandwiches full of salty Spanish ham and local cheese. We did not take a photo of our dinner but the photo above is of Beryl standing in front of the Teatro Espanol which is located at the Plaza Santa Ana.
