No where can you get away from the Pacific NW rain better than to go Hawaii in February. Strange as it may seem the weather in Honolulu was relatively cool while at home the few (very few) nice days all winter happened while we were away. But we finally were able to accept the long standing invitation of our good friends, Randy and Janice Blair, to share part of their winter break in Honolulu. Like them we brought books to read. Robert made a poor reading choice by selecting the 600+ page “Too Big To Fail” story about the 2008 financial meltdown. Each crook seemed worse than the one before and they are all real. But don’t get me started on that!
We found we were close to Fort DeRussey and the U.S. Army hotel facility there. With Rob’s Department of Defense civilian retiree ID card we were able to use their pool and cafe. Maybe some day we will stay there. We enjoyed worship in the Chapel that is open to the public.
